After writing last week about the fun expected at the annual
James Beard Foundation Chefs & Champagne event, I almost didn't get there. But early Saturday morning everything came together and I headed out to Long Island's East End. The day under the tent was beautiful, not too hot, no hand fans needed. This year the James Beard Foundation honored multiple award-winning TV personality and cookbook author Ted Allen and the judges of Food Network’s
Chopped .

I caught up with Ted Allen and a a few of the other judges of Food Network’s
Chopped including Maneet Chauhan, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Marcus Samuelsson, Aarón Sanchez, Chris Santos, and Geoffrey Zakarian. Today's Foodie Friday features a few highlights from the day... First Yes, Chef!

Of course there was the food. One of my favorite dishes was Marcus Jernmark's Smoked Shrimp Rolls. Yum!
