Foodie Friday: Food, Sun and Sipping at 2012 JBF Chefs & Champagne

After writing last week about the fun expected at the annual James Beard Foundation Chefs   & Champagne event, I almost didn't get there. But early Saturday morning everything came together and I headed out to Long Island's East End.  The day under the tent was beautiful, not too hot, no hand fans needed.  This year the James Beard Foundation honored  multiple award-winning TV personality and cookbook author Ted Allen and the judges of Food Network’s Chopped .

Allen who is having a great culinary year just released a new book, In My Kitchen: 100 Recipes and Discoveries for Passionate Cooks and won the Best Media Personality and his show Chopped won Best Television Program at the James Beard Foundation Broadcast Media Awards in May. Allen was in great spirits, dressed in Hampton's casual, Ted came to play and have fun.

I caught up with Ted  Allen and a a few of the other judges of Food Network’s Chopped including Maneet Chauhan, Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Marc Murphy, Marcus Samuelsson, Aarón Sanchez, Chris Santos, and Geoffrey Zakarian.  Today's Foodie Friday features a few highlights from the day... First Yes, Chef!

Of course there was the food. One of my favorite dishes was Marcus Jernmark's Smoked Shrimp Rolls. Yum!
