MAKING THE CONNECTION

Leadership guru Anthony Silard delivered his baby this month. It's a book called The Connection. I spent the weekend celebrating the arrival of this much anticipated birth and am happy to report author and book are doing fine.  When I opened the Evite a few weeks ago I smiled proudly since I knew how hard my friend Tony had worked to bring this book to life.

When I met Anthony close to 8 years ago he was just beginning to write it. At the time I was still  a producer at CBS News The Early Show and was honored when he asked me to be a member of a select group of friends to read and edit chapter galleys. Tony was on a mission and determined to get his words out even if it meant publishing the book himself which he eventually did.  The book must have struck a chord with someone in high places because on January 10th 2012 it was updated, renamed and re-released by Simon and Schuster as The Connection.

Anthony has always believed in people living their passion.  In The Connection, he gives readers clear steps on ways to discover their passion both personally and professionally.  In this day and age  when everyone is socially and technically connected on the outside, Silard offers tips and basic strategies to help us connect to our authentic self on the inside. He says even the simple act  or the connection of an employer asking his employee during a period of time how he or she feels about the execution of a project can be a life changing experience.

The  Washington D.C. spot Busboys and Poets was filled with well wishers and readers purchasing The Connection.  The event hosted by The Center for Social Leadership Board of Directors and Silard have arranged to donate all book proceeds from the nights event to the CSL Young Leaders Program.

Tony Silard wants you to tap into your personal and professional passion. Start by answering these questions.

1) Do you feel connected with yourself? With others? What do you do to make this connection?

2) What are the activities you've been engaged in over the past few weeks that have brought the most happiness into your life?

3) What do you believe is the source of your passion? How did/do you discover it?
