Live! with Kelly and Michael, TBC Bloggers Tweets Live!

By now, the world knows the big news in morning television that former New York Giants Michael Strahan has been named the new co-host with Kelly Ripa ushering in  a new era for the show and a new name, "Live! with Kelly and Michael".  Strahan had appeared on the show at least 20 times in the past and was one of 59 people to audition for the co-host position.  He was in good company competing against the likes of actor Jerry O'Connell and singer Josh Groban for the coveted slot.  But Strahan won executive votes , Kelly Ripa's vote and viewer's vote with his charming personality, chemistry with Kelly and his mega smile.

The morning was filled with energy and  excitement as media, invited guests and loyal fans waited for the show to start.  For me, it was a day for my life to come together  as a traditional television and social media producer.

The Monday afternoon before the BIG debut of "Live! with Kelly and Michael" Executive Producer Michael Gelman gave  The Blogger Connection  (TBC) permission to tweet live from the show to our bloggers using our hashtag (#TBCatLive). My business partner, social media producer, Rachel Ferrucci and I were excited to be invited to the top secret day, since the show already has a social media team.

As you may already know, I fell in love with  television decades ago  at WABC-TV as an intern when the show was local and hosted by Regis Philbin and Cyndy Garvey.  Going back to the studio is always a blast.   I saw a lot of familiar faces and it brought back great memories. 

But yesterday I was enjoying the day and working too, using my social media skills in the traditional television world.  Rachel and I started tweeting before and after the show went live. Thanks to our bloggers who got up, watched and tweeted along with us. Here's a sample of what was going on Twitter before and after we were live in the audience.

Tweeting live from a show!  It's not only a new era for "Live! with Kelly & Michael", it is a new era for television. Slowly the genre is shifting and finding a way to include more social media including Twitter, Facebook and other platforms in their day to day productions.  For its second season Anderson Live will feature an  “Anderson Seat Tweets” section where audience members will tweet during the show and host Ricki Lake of daytime talk show " Ricki Lake" has been using social media prominently to launch her latest talk show.  Both shows debut next week.  It's definitely an interesting time in television.

Again, thanks Michael Gelman for inviting the The Blogger Connection and letting us be a part of the premiere of your 25th season and the debut of your new co-host on "Live! with Kelly and Michael."
