DID OPRAH'S "EXCLUSIVE" DELIVER?

By Debbie Mitchell

Oprah's much anticipated "exclusive" interview with the late singer Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown aired on OWN Sunday night. The only child of Houston and singer Bobby Brown who turned 19 on March 4 was interviewed in Atlanta at the home of Gary Houston, Whitney's brother and Patricia Houston Whitney's sister-in-law and manager .

In true Oprah style, she didn't waste anytime getting to the story. Ten minutes into the show Oprah and Bobbi Kristina were talking about losing her mom, her best memories of Whitney Houston, her insecurities and what Bobbi Kristina wants the world to know about her late mother. Oprah didn't ask Bobbi Kristina about her relationship with her father, Bobby Brown, or the rough years her parents shared battling drugs and alcohol. Instead the spotlight shined on Bobbi Kristina and how she was doing in this difficult time.

The interview with Houston's only child was just enough for me.  One month after Whitney Houston's untimely death, Bobbi Kristina looks healthy and coping as well as can be expected after losing her mom so suddenly.  She is beautiful with striking features from both her mom and dad and wants to be a singer which is no surprise to anyone.

Reports say Houston left everything in her will to Bobbi Kristina who will receive part of the money after she turns 21. She will get more of her inheritance at 25 and the rest at the age of 30.

The grieving process can be a long emotional roller coaster ride  and is different for everyone. There are good days and bad days. It looks like Oprah caught up to Bobbi Kristina on a very good day.  In the interview Bobbi Kristina said she "is doing as good as I possibly can" and I personally hope she continues to do well. I say no more interviews for now and take a break from the spotlight.

However the producer in me is already thinking about the one year anniversary of Whitney Houston's death. It is safe to say that after Sunday's meeting Bobbi Kristina will have lots more to say to Oprah in next year's  "exclusive" interview.

What did you think  of Oprah's "exclusive" with Bobbi Kristina?
